Basketball Recap: Cascade Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Cascade extended their winning streak to six on Friday, bumping them up to 10-3. They enjoyed a cozy 60-45 win over the Southmont Mounties. That's more bragging rights for the Cadets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cascade got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brady Trebley out in front who went 6-for-12 to rack up 14 points and seven rebounds. Trebley is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Paul Shackelford also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Cascade was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southmont only racked up four.

As for Southmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-10. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while Cascade is ranked 167th).

Southmont's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Foley, who shot 71% from the field en route to 12 points. Another player making a difference was Dean McGaughey, who went 5-for-12 on his way to 13 points.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cascade will welcome Linton-Stockton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southmont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Putnam at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
