Football Recap: Decatur Piles Up the Points Against Graham

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Decatur and Graham, and Decatur kept the tradition alive. The Eagles breezed past the Steers to the tune of 50-15 on Friday. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 34-14 victory the Steers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Decatur's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rhys Ragan, who threw for 193 yards and four touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. The Eagles also got a significant boost from Jamari Fletcher, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 141 yards.

Decatur was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 236 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Decatur's defense and their three sacks. Braden Sample was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Decatur got some further help from Colton Braziel: he made 13 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged an interception.

Graham's loss came despite strong showings from Jace Gill and Brodie Martin. Gill threw for 212 yards and a pair of TDs, while Martin picked up 129 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Martin showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 60 yards.

Decatur's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Graham, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2.

Decatur and Graham should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Decatur will challenge Carter-Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (133 vs. 1135). The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 918 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Graham (ranked 212th) will meet Lake Worth (ranked 524th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
