Clarksville had won 16 straight games and Malon Smith did her part to make it 17 on Tuesday. The Clarksville Wildcats blew past the Kirkwood Cobras 59-39 thanks in part to Smith, who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Clarksville's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Shakiah Vance, who went 7 of 14 en route to 19 points. She has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played.

Kirkwood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Destiny Hughes, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Channing Jones, who had nine points.

Clarksville's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 21.9 points. As for Kirkwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Clarksville will square off against Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Clarksville's defense has only allowed 27.3 points per game this season, so Springfield's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Kirkwood, they will challenge Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
