Basketball Recap: Austin Leslie's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bishop Verot over North Broward Prep

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Bishop Verot can now relate to. They lost 61-40 to the North Broward Prep Eagles on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since December 14, 2024.

Bishop Verot's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Leslie, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Leslie has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gavin Williams, who posted 13 points.

North Broward Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Baxley out in front who went 7-for-12 to rack up 17 points and five rebounds. North Broward Prep is 3-1 when Baxley posts 15 or more points, but 11-12 otherwise. Luigi Borio was another key player, dropping a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards.

Bishop Verot's loss dropped their record down to 18-10. As for North Broward Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season.

Bishop Verot does not have any more games scheduled as of now. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. North Broward Prep will need to watch out since Calvary Christian Academy has now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
