Softball Game Preview: Deer Valley Skyhawks vs. Flagstaff Eagles

Deer Valley is 0-4 against Flagstaff since April of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Deer Valley Skyhawks will welcome the Flagstaff Eagles at 3:45 p.m. Deer Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Flagstaff's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Deer Valley took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Paradise Honors, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Deer Valley never let Paradise Honors get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Thursday.

Not much got past Adyson Ordway, who gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Paradise Honors off the board. Ordway has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Deer Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Passalacqua, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, Flagstaff took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Saguaro with a sharp 16-6 win.

Sophia Garcia and Tatum Alex did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Alex got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mayla Speer, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Deer Valley's victory bumped their record up to 6-2-1. As for Flagstaff, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
