While Decatur didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-21), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Castleberry Lions 5-4. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions on Tuesday, too.

Alexa Beeson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Beeson was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Beeson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alivia Creasser, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Decatur's record is now 8-3. As for Castleberry, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13-1 record this season.

Coincidentally, Decatur and Castleberry will both be playing Eagle Mountain the next time they take the field. Castleberry will head out to face Eagle Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Decatur will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
