Softball Recap: West Harrison Takes a Loss

West Harrison had lost seven straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 6-18 to make it eight. They lost 9-3 to the Harrison Central Red Rebels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-6 on Tuesday.

West Harrison saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rayleigh Necaise, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

As for Harrison Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-10. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

On Harrison Central's side, Ryland Ellzey made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Ellzey has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Emilye Seiferd was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Braylee Watkins, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. West Harrison will face off against George County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harrison Central, they will take on St. Martin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
