Basketball Recap: Whitmire Falls Despite Big Games from Malaciah Douglas and Josiah Hamilton

Whitmire was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Pelion Panthers, falling 47-26. The Wolverines were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-8.

Josiah Hamilton and Malaciah Douglas certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Hamilton posted four points, while Douglas had six points.

Kolton Rogers produced another solid performance dropping a double-double with 24 points and 14 rebounds for Pelion. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rogers has scored at least a third of the Panthers' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daleon Phillips, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards.

Whitmire's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Pelion, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whitmire won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Newberry Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pelion, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Wagener-Salley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
