Softball Recap: Mount Dora Gets the Win

Mount Dora took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Bishop Moore, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hurricanes came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hornets on Friday, sneaking past 7-5. This was payback for the Hurricanes, who suffered a 7-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

KALEIGH CASEY spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on TAKIYAH WHITE, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

Mount Dora pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch. As for Bishop Moore, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-13.

Looking ahead, Mount Dora will challenge Tavares at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop Moore, they will face off against Tohopekaliga at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
