Softball Game Preview: Grove City Eagles vs. Cochranton Cardinals

The Grove City Eagles will face off against the Cochranton Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Grove City's offense. They came up short against Mercer on Tuesday, falling 8-0. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Cochranton got themselves on the board against Mercer on Monday, but Mercer never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Mustangs. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.

Cochranton's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Grove City, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Grove City suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Cochranton when the teams last played back in March of 2021. Can Grove City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
