Basketball Game Preview: Staunton Storm vs. Buffalo Gap Bison

The Staunton Storm are taking a road trip to face off against the Buffalo Gap Bison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Staunton has eight straight victories, Buffalo Gap has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Thursday, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Staunton made off with a 58-57 win over Broadway. Given the Storm's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while the Gobblers are ranked 314th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Buffalo Gap was beaten by Riverheads 72-36 on Friday.

Staunton's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Buffalo Gap, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Everything came up roses for Staunton against Buffalo Gap when the teams last played on January 3rd, as the team secured a 79-38 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Staunton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
