Basketball Recap: Rivermont Collegiate Takes a Loss

Rivermont Collegiate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 74-36 loss at the hands of the Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves.

When it comes to explaining why Rivermont Collegiate lost, don't look at Eamon Matlock. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 boards. Matlock's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 21 points.

Even though they lost, Rivermont Collegiate smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 7 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 12.8.

Rivermont Collegiate's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Winfield-Mt. Union, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.

Coming up, Rivermont Collegiate will head out on the road to challenge Quad Cities Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Winfield-Mt. Union has already played their next game (against Mediapolis), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
