Burlingame took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Santa Cruz, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cardinals 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since April 5th.

Burlingame let Liam Philibosian and Slade Flores run wild. Philibosian went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Flores went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Flores has posted since back in March. Michael Vargas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Burlingame's victory bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Santa Cruz, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burlingame will face off against Menlo-Atherton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games the Bears have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Santa Cruz, they will challenge San Lorenzo Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
