 The Evergreen Cougars will take on the Wheat Ridge Farmers at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday.
Evergreen is probably headed into the  matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Green Mountain just ended the team's  three-game winning streak  on Thursday. They fell  35-30 to the Rams.
The match pitted two dominant  backs against one another in  Gianni Volpe and  Drew Contreras. Contreras had a great game and rushed for 146 yards and three  scores on only 15 carries. Meanwhile,  Volpe did his best for the losing side, rushing for 52 yards and one  touchdown, while also picking up 99 receiving yards.
 Special teams was a major factor in the game for Evergreen, racking up 12 points in total. All came from  Karrik Boyle: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points, and 3-for-3 again kicking extra points for an additional three.
Meanwhile,  winning is always nice, but doing so behind a  season-high score is even better (just ask Wheat Ridge). They came out on top against Skyview by a score of  29-20  on Thursday. The  victory continues a trend for the Farmers in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won three in a row.
Wheat Ridge had a senior duo take command as  Isaiah Osei gained 157 total yards and  Jyles Ballenger rushed for 80 yards and one  TD on only six carries.
 Wheat Ridge was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 284  rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Skyview only  rushed for 109.
 Wheat Ridge's first  win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Evergreen, their  loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2.
 Everything went Evergreen's way against Wheat Ridge in their previous matchup  back in November of 2024, as Evergreen made off with  a  27-6 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success,  or do  the Farmers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
