Volleyball Game Preview: Coon Rapids Cardinals vs. Osseo Orioles

After both having extra time off, the Coon Rapids Cardinals and the Osseo Orioles will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Coon Rapids is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Minnesota's top teams: Andover, who was ranked sixth at the time (Coon Rapids was ranked ninth). The Cardinals took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies on Thursday. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-16, 22-25, 25-22.

Coon Rapids' loss came about despite a quality game from Josh Kavanaugh, who had 14 digs and four assists.

Meanwhile, Osseo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to Maple Grove.

While Osseo was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Maple Grove's winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-12, 25-21.

Osseo's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Coon Rapids, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.
