Baseball Game Preview: Stanton County Trojans vs. Hugoton Eagles

The Stanton County Trojans will challenge the Hugoton Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Stanton County has five straight victories, Hugoton has 21 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Stanton County didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Sublette 17-2 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won four contests by 14 runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Hugoton lost 18-3 to Ulysses on Tuesday.

Stanton County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hugoton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.
