Softball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Bella Miller and Aubrey Coffey Lead Springboro to Victory

While Springboro didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Springfield Wildcats a 15-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Katie Jonas tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Springboro let Aubrey Coffey and Bella Miller run wild. Coffey got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Miller went 2-for-4 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Coffey a new career-high. Leila Kim was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Springboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Springfield only posted an OBP of .250.

Springboro's record now sits at 6-3. As for Springfield, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Springboro will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
