Basketball Game Preview: Mundelein Mustangs vs. Lake Zurich Bears

Mundelein hasn't had much luck against Lake Zurich recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Mundelein Mustangs will square off against the Lake Zurich Bears at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mundelein is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Buffalo Grove: they outscored them in every quarter. Mundelein enjoyed a cozy 51-35 win over Buffalo Grove on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Meanwhile, Lake Zurich waltzed into their contest on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pirates, sneaking past 53-51. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Pirates are ranked 195th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mundelein's record now sits at 19-11. As for Lake Zurich, their record is now 21-7.

Mundelein couldn't quite finish off Lake Zurich when the teams last played back in January and fell 49-46. Can Mundelein avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
