Baseball Recap: Sandalwood Drops Highest Score of Season Against Orange Park

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sandalwood). They were the clear victor by a 13-5 margin over the Orange Park Raiders on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won five in a row.

Bane Barker made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Grayson Thornton and Trent Baskins did most of the damage at the plate: Thornton scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Baskins went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one stolen base. Noah Salazar was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Sandalwood's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Orange Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Sandalwood will face off against Parker at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Sandalwood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Parker's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Orange Park, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Keystone Heights at 7:00 p.m.
