Softball Game Preview: Darien Blue Wave vs. Norwalk Bears

The Darien Blue Wave will square off against the Norwalk Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Darien sitting on three straight victories and Norwalk on ten.

Darien is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against McMahon on Monday as they made off with a 24-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Blue Wave, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Norwalk not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 14, 2024 (when they won 27-0). They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over Bridgeport Central.

Audra Lacomis and Zoey Wilds made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Lacomis struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Wilds tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Lacomis got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Wilds went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three hits gave Wilds a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie O'Brien, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Alexa Lacomis was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Norwalk always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .784. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Norwalk's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Darien, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.
