Football Recap: St. Francis Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Community Christian + How To Watch

St. Francis faced Community Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. St. Francis took a 33-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Community Christian. St. Francis' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why St. Francis lost, don't look at Eli Pawlish. Despite the final result, he rushed for 62 yards and two scores, and also picked up 31 receiving yards. Pawlish is becoming a predictor of St. Francis' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

It was another big night for Isaiah Lee, who rushed for 283 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 14.2 yards per carry for Community Christian. Those four rushing touchdowns gave Lee a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Fredrico Jones, who gained 119 total yards and a touchdown.

St. Francis now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Community Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-1-1 record this season.

St. Francis will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lafayette Christian at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th. The Knights will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least 31 points in their last six games. As for Community Christian, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 41-8 win against New Creation Christian Academy on the 10th.
