Softball Recap: East Carteret Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for East Carteret, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Southside Seahawks on Tuesday. The Mariners not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28th (when they won 23-5).

Amilya Lewis made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Lewis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Sadie McIntosh was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grayson Gillikin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple.

East Carteret always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

East Carteret's record now sits at 10-13. As for Southside, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9-1.

East Carteret will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Seahawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
