Basketball Recap: Families of Faith Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Families of Faith Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family and fell 64-33. While losing is never fun, the Screaming Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 604th, while Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family are ranked 262nd).

Alexis Huizinga and Gia Vitale certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Huizinga made all 5 shots she took to post 16 points, while Vitale made all 5 shots she took for 13 points.

Leading Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family to victory were Elizabeth Beto and Maya Krutul. Beto dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 steals, while Krutul dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Krutul's morning made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Emma Mudron, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

Families of Faith Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4.

Families of Faith Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-34 defeat against Calumet Christian on the 10th. As for Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 65-28 victory against Christian Liberty on the 10th.
