Basketball Game Preview: Hickory Hornets vs. Grove City Eagles

Hickory and Grove City are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Hickory Hornets will be playing at home against the Grove City Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Hickory strolled past Slippery Rock with points to spare, taking the game 66-47.

Meanwhile, Grove City had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Thursday. They took down the Mustangs 58-42. 58 seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Hickory has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Grove City, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Hickory beat Grove City 54-45 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Hickory repeat their success, or does Grove City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
