Baseball Game Preview: East Davidson Golden Eagles vs. North Rowan Cavaliers

East Davidson has gone 8-2 against North Rowan recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. East Davidson will head out to take on North Rowan at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Thursday, East Davidson didn't have quite enough to beat Southwestern Randolph and fell 6-5. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, North Rowan lost 22-11 to Thomasville on Friday. The Cavaliers haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Zion Gillespie and Chase Cauble stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gillespie scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Cauble scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Gillespie has become a key player for North Rowan: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Smith, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

North Rowan's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for East Davidson, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

East Davidson took their win against North Rowan in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Davidson since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
