Softball Game Preview: Knightstown Panthers vs. Edinburgh Lancers

The Knightstown Panthers will square off against the Edinburgh Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Knightstown will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Knightstown will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating New Castle, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Trojans on Friday.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh made easy work of Waldron on Friday and carried off a 17-1 win. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Chole Hancock and Kenna Streeval made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Hancock tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Streeval tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hancock has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hancock got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, while Streeval got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs Hancock has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Edinburgh let Elizabeth Richardson Hernandez and Eloise Cox run wild. Richardson Hernandez went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run, while Cox went 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Cox has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Shyla Watt, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Edinburgh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waldron only posted an OBP of .286.

Edinburgh has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Knightstown, they pushed their record up to 13-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
