Basketball Recap: Watersprings Starts Season with Win Against Salmon

Watersprings took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They snuck past the Salmon Savages with a 77-72 win. The victory continues a trend for Watersprings in their matchups with Salmon: they've now won seven in a row.

Watersprings' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Demkowicz led the charge by putting up 22 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. What's more, Demkowicz posted five steals, the most he's had since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Korban Nelson, who scored 30 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Salmon dropped their record down to 1-1 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Watersprings wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-20 win against Castleford on the 6th. As for Salmon, they will take on Rockland in a tournament on Thursday.
