Baseball Game Preview: Wellston Golden Rockets vs. Alexander Spartans

The Wellston Golden Rockets are taking a road trip to square off against the Alexander Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wellston's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Alexander's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Wellston is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest loss since April 30, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Athens by a score of 5-3.

Meanwhile, Alexander was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 14-4 to Meigs. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by exactly ten runs.

Mason Morris was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael McKibben, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Wellston's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6. As for Alexander, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Wellston took their victory against Alexander in their previous matchup on Wednesday by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Rockets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
