Softball Recap: Anderson County Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

Anderson County won the last time they faced Woodford County and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bearcats walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Yellowjackets. The win was familiar territory for the Bearcats, who have now won three matches in a row.

Lacey Osborne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Liliana Mefford was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Molly Wooldridge was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Mefford wasn't the only one making solid contact: Anderson County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.

Anderson County pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Woodford County, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-8-1 record.

Coming up, Anderson County will welcome Campbell County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Woodford County, they will face off against Collins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.8 runs per game on average), something the Yellowjackets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
