Basketball Game Preview: Calloway County Lakers vs. Lyon County Lyons

Calloway County has gone 4-0 against Lyon County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Calloway County Lakers will take on the Lyon County Lyons at 1:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Calloway County is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Taylor County just ended the team's 13-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to the Cardinals 62-56.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaidan Koch, who went 8 of 18 en route to 26 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. Her afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sayler Lowe, who went 7 for 17 on her way to 15 points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Lyon County entered their matchup against Christian County on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Lyon County took an 81-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of Christian County. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (62), the Lyons still had to take the loss.

Lyon County's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-3. As for Calloway County, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-3.

Calloway County strolled past Lyon County when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 68-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calloway County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
