Softball Recap: Orangewood Christian Drops Season-High Score on Pine Ridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Orangewood Christian). They put the hurt on the Pine Ridge Panthers with a sharp 19-4 win on Monday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

Orangewood Christian let Caroline Putt and Harper Katauskas run wild. Putt scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Katauskas went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. What's more, Putt posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Kaleigh Langmo was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Orangewood Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 12.2.

Orangewood Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pine Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-11-1.

Looking ahead, Orangewood Christian will square off against Windermere Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pine Ridge, they will take on Trinity Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 13.4 runs per game this season.
