Softball Recap: Bunn's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bunn won against Northern Nash last Tuesday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Wildcats beat the Franklinton Red Rams by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-1. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Emily Baez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Baez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Peyton Alford was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Maycey Buchanan was another key player, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4.

Bunn hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Bunn's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13 runs. As for Franklinton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.

Bunn will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Roanoke Rapids at 6:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for Franklinton, they will head out to face off against Northern Nash at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.54 runs per game on average), something the Red Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of.
