Preview: Mechanicsville Mustangs vs. Hanover Hawks

Mechanicsville is 2-8 against Hanover since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Mechanicsville Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Hanover Hawks at 6:00 p.m.

Mechanicsville lost a close one when they played on Wednesday but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Monday was a bit more commanding. They fell victim to a tough 13-4 loss at the hands of Dinwiddie. Mechanicsville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kendall Wilkinson was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Mechanicsville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Hanover entered their tilt with Midlothian with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They skirted past the Trojans 2-1. Two seems to be a good number for Hanover as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The team relied heavily on Emma Slutzah, who went 3-for-3 with a home run.

Mechanicsville's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hanover, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.

Mechanicsville suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Hanover in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Thankfully for Mechanicsville, Julia Cuozzo (who struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk)) won't be suiting up this time.
