Basketball Recap: West Grand Piles Up the Points Against North Park

A well-balanced attack led West Grand over North Park in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the West Grand Mustangs blew the North Park Wildcats out of the water with a 47-14 final score. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 23 points or more this season.

West Grand had a senior duo take command as Makaila Gifford dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten steals and Taylin Harthun dropped a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. Gifford is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Martinson, who posted seven points and four steals.

West Grand smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

West Grand's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.2 points. As for North Park, they are on a 17-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.

West Grand wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 53-15 win against Lake County on the 26th. As for North Park, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-31 defeat against Soroco on the 27th.
