Recap: Grandville Bulldogs vs. Mattawan Wildcats
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grand Haven, the Grandville Bulldogs were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Mattawan by a score of 53-43. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Grandville also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Mattawan still got an impressive performance from Delaney Elsmore, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 65.1% of Mattawan's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Caitlin Ryan, who scored five points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Grandville's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Mattawan, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grandville will take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jenison is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. Mattawan will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Lakeshore will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
