The Trinity Christian Lions will take on the Upson-Lee Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trinity Christian has given up an average of 30 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Trinity Christian is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games last Friday. They took a hard 38-21 fall against Troup County. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Tigers are ranked 33rd).
Trinity Christian's defeat came about despite a quality game from Ashton Clare, who rushed for 55 yards and one score, and also threw for 175 yards on 11 of 20 attempts.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Upson-Lee, who bounced back after a loss on the road on October 3rd. They really took it to Fayette County for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-10 victory. The matchup marked the Knights' most dominant win of the season.
Upson-Lee's win came from a few key players Trinity Christian will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jy Garmon, who rushed for 72 yards and three TDs on only ten carries, and also picked up 74 receiving yards and one touchdown. His longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards. Nicholas Wells was another key signal caller, throwing for 162 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes.
Upson-Lee didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. De'Quavius Hamilton and John Neal each grabbed an interception.
Upson-Lee's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Trinity Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Trinity Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 171.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Upson-Lee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 175 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Trinity Christian took a serious blow against Upson-Lee in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 40-6. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Lions were down 20-0.
