Softball Game Preview: Mojave Rattlers vs. Spring Valley Grizzlies

Mojave is 0-10 against Spring Valley since March of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Rattlers will head out on the road to face off against the Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. Mojave has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mojave heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Wednesday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-0 to Rancho, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Rattlers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Southeast Career Tech hit Spring Valley with a five-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Grizzlies fell just short of the Roadrunners by a score of 8-7. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Roadrunners recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Raelynn Villanueva made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubree Holcombe, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Spring Valley's loss dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Mojave, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Mojave came up short against Spring Valley in their previous matchup back in March, falling 9-6. Can the Rattlers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
