Softball Game Preview: Farmington Phoenix vs. Roy Royals

The Farmington Phoenix are taking a road trip to face off against the Roy Royals at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Farmington has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Farmington couldn't beat Syracuse on Thursday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the second inning. The Phoenix fell just short of the Titans by a score of 13-12. The Phoenix have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Brooklyn Wright made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one home run the last five times she's played. Jane Frey was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Roy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 8-5 to Viewmont.

Roy's loss dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Farmington, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Everything went Farmington's way against Roy when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Farmington made off with a 20-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Phoenix since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
