Basketball Game Preview: Murtaugh Red Devils vs. Oakley Hornets

Murtaugh and Oakley are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Murtaugh Red Devils will be playing at home against the Oakley Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Murtaugh is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Butte County on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Murtaugh was beaten by Butte County 58-21. The Red Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-7.

Meanwhile, Oakley put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Gooding by a score of 52-43. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Senators are ranked 82nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oakley's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.1 points per game. As for Murtaugh, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
