Basketball Game Preview: Commerce Tigers vs. Franklin County Lions + Official Tickets

Commerce and Franklin County are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2020, but not for long. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Commerce's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

While Commerce didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They claimed a resounding 58-31 victory over East Jackson. Fans of the Tigers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Commerce got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Niya Daniels out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Daniels is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 60% in the last four games she's played. Alexis Wilhite was another key player, shooting 75% from the field to rack up 12 points.

Commerce smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Franklin County humbled West Hall with a 50-20 victory.

Commerce pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.2 points on average over those games. As for Franklin County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
