Baseball Game Preview: Brunswick Dragons vs. Brewer Witches

The Brunswick Dragons will square off against the Brewer Witches at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Brunswick 3.4, Brewer 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Brewer will be up against a hot Brunswick team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Dragons never let Camden Hills get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Friday. While the Dragons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Jimmy Cook, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those RBI were his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Henry Blood, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Brewer, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They skirted past Bangor 6-4.

Brunswick pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Brewer, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Brunswick skirted past Brewer 1-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Witches turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
