Jefferson took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Englewood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Saints won by a set and slipped past the Pirates 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Saints have posted since August 30th.

Jefferson wouldn't go down easily and took Englewood into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-22, 23-25, 26-28, 17-15.

Englewood's loss on Thursday came despite strong showings from Serenity Griego and Lililehua Manfre. Griego had 13 digs and three aces, while Manfre had 19 digs.

Jefferson's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Englewood, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-13.

Looking ahead, Jefferson will take on Denver West at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Englewood, they will square off against Platte Canyon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Pirates surely won't give up without a fight.
