Baseball Recap: Era Takes a Loss

Era was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Alvord Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 last Tuesday.

Hayes Fugate spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Era saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haygen Patterson, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Era's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8-3. As for Alvord, their win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Era is set to face off against their familiar foe Nocona at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Alvord will square off against rival Lindsay at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
