Baseball Game Preview: Edward Little Red Eddies vs. Skowhegan River Hawks

The Edward Little Red Eddies will head out to challenge the Skowhegan River Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Edward Little's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three contests, but Thursday's match will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Monday, Edward Little came up short against Greely and fell 5-2.

Meanwhile, Skowhegan was able to grind out a solid win over Nokomis on Monday, taking the game 6-2. That's two games straight that the River Hawks have won by exactly four runs.

Jason Aubin made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Aubin wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Austin, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Austin has posted since back in May of 2024. Jackson Hight was another, going 1-for-3 with three RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Skowhegan and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Edward Little, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Edward Little took their victory against Skowhegan when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Eddies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
