Volleyball Recap: Musselman Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Cabell Midland

Musselman faced Cabell Midland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Applemen took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights. If the Applemen were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Knights when the teams met back in November of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-15.

Despite the loss, Musselman still got an impressive performance from Alycia Miller, who had 18 digs. Miller has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last 13 times she's played.

Carley Brewster was the offensive standout of the contest as she had nine digs and two assists.

With the defeat, Musselman broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 17-7. As for Cabell Midland, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4-1 record this season.

Musselman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Morgantown on the 4th. As for Cabell Midland, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Shady Spring on the 4th.
