Baseball Recap: Wiggins Comes Up Short

Wiggins blew Wray out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Wray got their revenge. The Tigers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since April 3rd.

Arath Carrazco and Jace Yzaguirre stepped up to the plate in a big way. Carrazco went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Yzaguirre went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Carrazco has become a key player for Wiggins: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Flores, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Wiggins has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Wray, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Wiggins will host Liberty Common at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Wray, they will face off against Goodland at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
