Softball Game Preview: Frontier Cougars vs. St. Marys Blue Devils

The Frontier Cougars will head out to challenge the St. Marys Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Frontier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Frontier fell victim to Conotton Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Rockets, falling 14-0. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, St. Marys never let their opponents score on Friday. They came out on top against Sherman by a score of 4-0. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Tide recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

St. Marys pushed their record up to 23-5 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Frontier, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 18-3.

Frontier might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from St. Marys in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
