Volleyball Recap: Fort Collins Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Fort Collins and Rocky Mountain meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Lambkins fell just short of the Lobos by a score of 3-2. While the Lambkins didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lobos 25-20 in the first set.

Fort Collins took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-17, 18-25, 25-11, 16-14.

When it comes to explaining why Fort Collins lost, don't look at Livi Durham. Despite the final result, she had 17 digs and two assists. Durham has been hot, having posted 12 or more digs the last six times she's played. Ella Marchand also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Fort Collins has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Rocky Mountain, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Fort Collins has already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Greeley West on the 16th. As for Rocky Mountain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Poudre on the 16th.
