Football Recap: Apache Junction Comes Up Short

Apache Junction had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-8 to make it eight. They took a blow against the Round Valley Elks, falling 49-6. The Prospectors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.

Gavin Mozingo threw for 42 yards on eight of 14 attempts. Michael Osborn was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards. On the ground, Macale Hoffman rushed for 50 yards.

As for Round Valley, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1. The contest marked their most dominant win of the season.

Leading Round Valley to victory were Titan Myers and Kage Finch. Myers rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns, while Finch threw for 170 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 passes. That's the most rushing touchdowns Myers has posted since back in August.

Apache Junction didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 53-14 loss against Gilbert Christian on the 31st. As for Round Valley, they have also already played their next matchup, a 56-0 victory against ALA - Mesa North on the 31st.
