Preview: Brewer Bears vs. Mesquite Skeeters
The Brewer Bears will square off against the Mesquite Skeeters at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Brewer is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Last Monday, Brewer narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Grand Prairie 53-50. Given Brewer's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Grand Prairie is ranked 299th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brewer's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julian Perez led the charge by scoring 20 points along with 3 steals. The contest was Perez's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tyren Mitchell, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mesquite beat North Mesquite 57-50 on Tuesday.
Brewer's victory lifted them to 6-1 while Grand Prairie's loss dropped them down to 2-3.
